Road tests for Rush, Slaughter
After bouncing back from a tough loss to Kansas City with a thumping of New Orleans last week at home and surviving the hoopla of having his number retired, Chicago Rush coach Bob McMillen was one relieved guy.
“This was a momentous occasion for the team,” McMillen said. “I am thrilled to walk away with a victory because it made the night even more special for everyone involved.”
Defensive back Vic Hall had a pair of interceptions — one returned for a touchdown — and receiver Reggie Gray finished with 9 receptions for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Rush past the Voodoo.
The Rush (5-2) kick off a two-week road trip with a stop in Tulsa (2-5) on Saturday.
For trivia buffs out there, The Talons are coached by Mitch Allner, who was the first head coach in the AF2 to have played with and coached a team to an ArenaCup championship.
Slaughter off to Richmond:
Fresh off their white knuckle 42-39 win over rival Green Bay, keyed by Chris Nendick’s field goal with 8 seconds remaining, the Chicago Slaughter (6-3) hit the road Saturday to take on the Richmond Revolution (1-7) at 7 p.m.
