Body of pregnant teen found in forest preserve
ALSIP — Authorities say a suburban-Chicago teenager who was to give birth next month has been found in a Cook County forest preserve strangled to death.
Cook County sheriff's police say the body of 18-year-old Rosemary Newman was found near Calumet City, about 15 miles from her home in Alsip.
Authorities say Newman's mother reported her missing Sunday, a few hours after a man walking his dog discovered the teen's body.
An autopsy by the Cook County medical examiner determined Newman had been strangled, and ruled her death a homicide.
According to the victim's brother, Newman left for a date Saturday night and never returned home.
Cook County sheriff's police Tuesday did not give much information about their investigation, saying interviews were being conducted.
