To the residents of the Third Ward of St. Charles:
I am most grateful for your trust and confidence in electing me to be your alderman. This has been an interesting experience for many reasons. I discovered that newspapers, signs, fliers and a narrow focus on limited issues do not win elections.
I discovered that all of us never reach the correct, final and ultimate answer, although some want us to provide it. I discovered that the diversity and size of the ward means problems for some are afterthoughts to others. I discovered that it is better to listen than to lecture; ask questions and be respectful of people's views. I discovered wonderful people that I would not have met but for this campaign.
Most importantly, I discovered transparency transcends all issues and face-to-face dialogue can usually never be harmful but instead be a source of discovery and solutions.
I look forward to serving all of you to the best of my ability. You should expect nothing less.
