Lacrosse coverage in the suburbs: We've got an app for that

Yep, we've got an app for that.

For high school lacrosse, the Daily Herald is experimenting this spring with offering mobile phone applications — one for the boys, another for the girls — to satisfy a growing lacrosse audience.

Yes, you'll still see lacrosse in our print editions of the Daily Herald. In fact, we'll be giving the sport a far greater presence on our pages than in the past. Every Monday through May, we'll give lacrosse its own consistent spot in the paper with stories and photos.

The apps will include all that content from the print edition — and so much more. Thanks to a cooperative agreement with the sport's governing bodies at the high school level (Illinois High School Lacrosse Association and Illinois High School Women's Lacrosse Association), you'll be able to find timely results, more photos and even bloggers devoted solely to high school lacrosse.

Progress, of course, comes at a price, and the mobile applications require a separate subscription. We're hoping an abundance of tech-savvy lacrosse fans will embrace this approach and find it useful, fun, and well worth the 99 cents.

The apps are available in both the Android and iPhone versions.
