Arlington Muskies named champs

The Arlington Heights Park District’s Muskie Swim Team won the Northern Illinois Swim Conference ‘A’ Division Championship Saturday, March 5.

The Northern Illinois Swim Conference took place this year in Zion and is a recreational conference for youth ages 18 and younger. The emphasis of the conference is placed on learning competitive skills, enjoyment of the sport and lifelong participation in swimming.

There are two divisions of the Northern Illinois Swim Conference. The ‘A’ Division is defined by the fastest teams in conference. The teams who participated in the ‘A’ division were Zion, McHenry, Mount Prospect and Buffalo Grove.

The Muskie Swim Team is made up of swimmers ages 6-18, who enjoy competitive swimming while having fun and staying fit with friends. Swimmers and coaches worked hard throughout the season accomplishing team and personal achievements, including eight wins in 10 meets, with 98 swimmers achieving top times based on USA Swimming timing standards.

The Muskies celebrated their victorious season at the Arlington Muskie Awards banquet April 3 at the Olympic Swim Center.
