DuPage sheriff shuts down cannabis growing operation, one arrested

DuPage County Sheriff officials announced Friday they have seized over 400 cannabis plants and arrested one Clarendon Hills person for production of cannabis plants.

Stephen M. Baker, 42, of the 5900 block of Clarendon Hills Rd., has been charged with one count of production or possession of over 200 cannabis plants, a class one felony.

He has been released from DuPage County Jail after posting the required 10 percent of a $10,000 bond, officials said.

Officials said Sheriff's deputies responded to a call from the landlord of Baker's Clarendon Hills rental house for a suspicious incident.

The landlord was at the house to fix a water leak, officials said, when he discovered heavy condensation on the inside of the windows.

The landlord entered the home and discovered a large number of green leafy plants growing.

Through the course of the ensuing investigation, officials said, the DuPage County Sheriff's Tactical Narcotics Team obtained a search warrant for the residence and recovered over 400 cannabis plants in the home.

Baker was arrested by police Thursday night.
