Libertyville woman charged with selling drugs

A 48-year-old Libertyville woman was arrested and charged with numerous drug offenses after selling cannabis to an 18-year-old from her home, police said.

Sara O. Douglas, of the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful delivery of cannabis within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of cannabis following her arrest March 4, Libertyville Police Lt. Scott Fabbri said.

Fabbri said an officer stopped a vehicle driven by Brandon J. O’Meany, 18, of the 600 block of Paddock Lane on March 4 at Paddock Lane and S. Fourth Avenue for not having a working rear registration light.

During the traffic stop, police found less than 2.5 grams of cannabis in the car and arrested O’Meany. O’Meany told police Douglas supplied him with the cannabis while he was at her apartment that evening, Fabbri said.

Three other passengers in the car, Tyler F. Kendrick, 18, of the 200 block of E. Cook Street in Libertyville, and two juveniles, were charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.

All four were released on bond and are expected in court April 27 at 1:30 p.m., officials said.

Following the traffic stop, Libertyville police and members of the Metropolitan Enforcement Group went to Douglas’ home, where she was arrested and charged, Fabbri said.

Douglas was taken to Lake County jail and is held on $25,000 bond, Fabbri said, of which she must post 10 percent.
