'Walking Dead' among new DVDs

“The Walking Dead: Season One”

Based on Robert Kirkman's popular comic books, AMC's “The Walking Dead” premiered to more than 3.5 million viewers. The six episodes of the first season gained a loyal following, and critics hailed the show for its acting and writing. People have rediscovered zombies, and here they are very scary.

The story centers around county sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), who awakens from a coma in a post-apocalyptic zombie world. The world he knew is gone, and now the dead walk. Rick finds other survivors, and we witness moment-to-moment survival.

The series is for adults and is a sophisticated drama, with horror mixed in.
