Illinois corn farmers back coupons for E85 fuel

SPRINGFIELD — Illinois corn farmers and the American Lung Association are teaming up to encourage drivers to use an ethanol blend to fuel up their rental cars.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car customers renting "flex fuel vehicles" will get $10 coupons for the purchase of E85, a fuel comprised of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent conventional gasoline.

Interested customers can call any of the Enterprise locations in Springfield, Quincy or Jacksonville to request a flex fuel vehicle and receive a coupon.

The coupons are a project of the Illinois Corn Marketing Board. The American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest supports the program because E85 burns cleaner than traditional gasoline.
