25,000 of 195,000 still blacked out from snowstorm in Michigan

HILLSDALE, Mich. — CMS Energy Corp. says about 25,000 of the 195,000 electricity customers blacked out by Michigan's latest winter storm remain without power.

The storm hit Sunday and Monday, dumping more than 11 inches of snow in parts of the state.

CMS's Consumers Energy unit says Thursday morning that about 7,500 of the blacked-out customers are in Hillsdale County, 6,600 in Lenawee County and 4,100 in Monroe County. The total is down from Wednesday.

Consumers Energy says ice and snow caused significant damage to the utility's delivery system and that's why it's taking more time to restore service. The company says 120 crews from Indiana and Ohio have come in to help and says most customers should have power back by late Thursday.

Some may not get power back until Friday.
