Nanny charged with abusing toddler

CHICAGO — Police say a Chicago woman is facing aggravated battery charges after she was allegedly caught on a "Nanny Cam" choking and shaking a 15-month-old girl in a high chair.

Officers say the toddler's parents became suspicious and installed the camera after their daughter became increasingly withdrawn and they noticed several unexplained bruises on her body. They told police they saw the violent behavior on a video from Feb. 18.

The arrested woman, 31-year-old Andrea Aguilar, had reportedly served as the girl's nanny since March of last year.

Aguilar appeared before a Cook County judge on Thursday and was ordered held on $25,000 bond.

Authorities did not say whether she had an attorney.
