New DuPage Water Commission treasurer resigns

The reconstituted DuPage County Water Commission is again searching for a treasurer.

Retired DuPage County Auditor Jim Rasins, who was supposed to fill the post, resigned this week before attending a single meeting.

Chairman Jim Zay announced Rasin's resignation during Thursday's meeting.

“I met with Jim Rasins yesterday and he submitted his resignation as treasurer of the DuPage Water Commission,” Zay said. “Jim has some personal commitments that have come up that he didn't know about when he accepted the position. I've known Jim a long time and he wanted to put 110 percent into this and he is no longer able to do that for an extended period of time.”

Zay said the commission will review the resumes on file from the previous search while attempting to find someone for the $10,000 position.

“We'll contact DuPage Mayors and Managers and the county and let them know the position is open again,” Zay said. “If anyone else knows anyone in the business world or anyone else interested in that $10,000 a year, it's well worth it. Hopefully we can get moving on that.”

Several commissioners also said they are “getting real close” to hiring a new general manager following a nearly two-hour closed session meeting Thursday afternoon. The panel is looking for a general manager to replace Bob Martin, the former general manager who resigned under fire last March.
