Right-wing media is suppressing news

Because conservatives control 90 percent of American media, I often have to read foreign newspapers for stories suppressed in the U.S. As an example, American newspapers did not cover the story of 53,000 blacks who were not allowed to vote in Florida (giving the 2000 election to Bush) until six months after the fact, while The Guardian was covering the story leading up the election.

Another story that should be national headlines in the U.S. was found in The Daily Mail, a British Newspaper. On May 30, 2009, a Mexican family in Tucson, Ariz., was murdered in cold blood. Raul Flores (father) was shot within seconds of opening the front door, 9-year-old Brisenia Flores begged for her life before being murdered. Her mother, Gina, was shot but survived. The suspects were caught and are being tried. They are members of an anti-immigration group that claims it is their civil duty to protect the Mexican border with weapons, as the authorities are unable to do so.

Conservative control of our media prevented this from being national headlines to suppress a story of right-wing terrorism and prevent public sympathy for illegal immigrants. The megamedia mergers that have taken place since the Clinton administration has put the control of information into the hands of the few. These few use their power to convince the analytically challenged to believe things that are not true for political purposes. For instance, right-wing radio insists illegal immigration is out of control when it has actually dropped 67 percent since 2000. It is time to break up these megamedia giants.
