UIC women fall to Wisconsin-Green Bay
CHICAGO — Celeste Hoewisch scored 20 points and No. 18 Wisconsin-Green Bay beat Illinois-Chicago 81-50 on Thursday.
Hoewisch made a career-high six 3-pointers to help the Phoenix (23-1, 12-0 Horizon League) extend their winning streak to 14 games.
Kayla Tetschlag finished with 19 points for Green Bay, which outrebounded Illinois-Chicago 44-31. Julie Wojta had 10 points and 11 boards, and reserve Stephanie Sension added 10 points.
Taylor Foulks scored 14 for the Flames (10-12, 5-6).
The Phoenix shot 39 percent in the first half but Tetschlag scored 12 points to power Green Bay to a 34-21 halftime lead.
Hoewisch made three 3-pointers during a 12-3 surge that increased the margin to 49-26 with 13:28 left.
Illinois-Chicago shot 32 percent from the field and committed 21 turnovers.
