Document: Principal manipulated roster before test

DECATUR, Ga. — A DeKalb County elementary school principal said in a court document that she un-enrolled students before a key test date and then re-enrolled them in an effort to boost scores in 2010.

WSB-TV reports Thursday that Rock Chapel Elementary School principal Angela Jennings resigned effective June 30 after it was discovered. District spokesman Walter Woods said the district took immediate action after learning of the manipulation.

Jennings said in a signed affidavit that she deleted 13 students in the third and fifth grades on May 4 before the CRCT tests.

She said she sent a letter to the parents of these students advising that they would be withdrawn due to poor attendance. She said many parents then responded that their students had not missed that many days.

Jennings could not be reached for comment.
