Things calm at Delnor in blizzard

About 70 Delnor Hospital employees, including physicians, support workers and administrators, stayed overnight Tuesday, ready to make sure patient care did not suffer Wednesday because of the blizzard.

The Geneva hospital implemented its Code Green Standby emergency plan, said nurse Irvanne Ester, the emergency management coordinator. That includes double-checking their supplies to make sure they are at a “meet or exceed” level, and canceling elective surgeries. It was still on Code Green Wednesday afternoon, and leaders were meeting to determine whether to resume elective surgeries.

“There was a spirit of great teamwork,” Ester said.

Patient volume was “kind of low,” Ester said, and so far the hospital has not seen many patients complaining of injuries involving the snow.
