Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?I have always loved the library. As a child I spent a lot of time with my friends at the library and participating in fund raising activities. I do not want users to go to other facilities to perform research or gather data. The library should be the mainstay of information for the community.If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of important initiatives you've led. If you are a non-incumbent, tell us what contributions you would make.I am a very detailed and highly organized individual with responsiblity for scheduling and budgeting multi-million dollar projects in the aerospace industry. My skill sets will enable me to help create budgets, assess the needs of the community, and manage and measure the effectiveness of programs.Do you have a library card? How long have you had it? How often do you use it?One of the first things we did as a family when we moved to Cary was to join the library. We have lived in this community for over 18 years. I regularly use the library for books, research, audio tapes and participate in events sponsored by the library.Space is usually an issue at libraries. If that's the case at your library, would your solution be to expand the physical plant or make room by doing away with parts of the collection that technology has made less critical? Explain.The most important responsibility is to be an advocate for the community whether it is for local and state library laws, programs and/or material selection. We need to explore different layouts of the library with current technology first before exploring options to expand the existing library facility, especially with the given economy.What impact have economic and technological changes had on libraries? How does a library remain relevant? How should its role in the community change?In today's economy, it is vital the library remain a fresh and service oriented resource for our community. Monies are not always available through the taxpayers. We need to have plans and keep in touch with the local and state government to effectively promote and work positively to grow our library. We have wonderful programs for literacy, children of all ages and diversity. Let#146;s work together to expand our programs and services. We can bring the joy of reading to all, regardless of one#146;s financial situation.
