Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?I am running for re-election to use my experience gained over 12 years as an incumbant to maintain Elk Grove Village Public Library's rating as the number one public library in the Northwest suburbs as rated by Hennen's American Library Ratings.If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. If you are a non-incumbent, tell us what contributions you would make.I was involved in the compromise between the board members regarding the contested internet use policy; in 2003 as President, I led the board in our financial support of the Village in its fight against O'Hare expansion; as President I also was able to negotiate the reinstatement of the intergovernmental agreement between Elk Grove Public Library and the Schaumburg Township Library in which Schaumburg Township District Library which saves Elk Grove tax payers money every year; as the only attorney on the board we have saved tax payer dollars by not needing to consult our retained attorneys on every single issue.Do you have a library card? How long have you had it? How often do you use it?Yes, ever since I moved to Elk Grove Village.Space is usually an issue at libraries. If that's the case at your library, would your solution be to expand the physical plant or make room by doing away with parts of the collection that technology has made less critical? Explain.Space is not currently an issue at our library.What impact have economic and technological changes had on libraries? How does a library remain relevant? How should its role in the community change?We have installed expanded computer access in both adult and youth services; free WiFi; video game rooom; electronic check-out facilities; ebooks; numerous databases that may be accessed from your home computer. Our meeting rooms are constantly being used for community activities. We strive to keep up with technology and provide our patrons with the latest information, classe and lectures. We are also on Facebook, Twitter and Newsfeed.
