Sox player pulling for hometown Seahawks

When it comes to loyalty, White Sox infielder Brent Lillibridge is choosing his hometown team — the Seattle Seahawks — over his hometown during the baseball season.

“It had to work out that one of my favorite cities, Chicago, is playing the Seahawks,” Lillibridge said on the “Mully and Hanley Show” on 670-AM.

Lillibridge, a native of Everett, Wash., through his Twitter account has offered up a pair of tickets to a Sox opening week game to a fan who will sport Seahawks garb — and document it with photos — to Sunday's playoff game against the Bears at Soldier Field.

He knows whoever is brave enough to take the offer will have to endure an awful lot.

“I have to make it really tough for somebody to win some tickets,” he said. “I'm just trying to have some fun with it.”

And to prove he's a good sport, Lillibridge said he plans on sacrificing if the Bears defeat Seattle.

“If they win, I'll record me wearing some Bears stuff,” he said.

Briggs time: Think having Lance Briggs out of the lineup with an ankle injury wasn't a factor in the Bears' 23-20 home loss to the Seahawks in Week 6?Think again.#8220;Going into that game, we fully expected him to play. He didn't play, and that was a big deal,#8221; quarterback Matt Hasselbeck told reporters in Seattle. #8220;So for us to sit back and say, #8216;Oh hey, we beat them at their place. We can do it again,' that would be a dangerous way to feel. Because Lance Briggs did not play in that game. He is a big, big-time difference-maker and a great football player.#8221;Big whoop: With Saturday's victory, Matt Hasselbeck surpassed Dave Krieg for the most wins (74) by a Seahawk quarterback.Hasselbeck was clearly overwhelmed with emotion when told about his record.#8220;It's just another whatever,#8221; he said. #8220;I'm sure that will get broken by somebody at some point.#8221;The quote: #8220;I played with my grandson all day. I was under pillows and blankets and climbing over chairs all day long.#8221; #8212; Seahawks coach Pete Carroll on how he spent last Sunday afternoon while his opponent for this weekend was being determined.
