3 pets lost in Antioch house fire

The Antioch Fire Department battles a house fire on the 26300 block of West Prospect Street Monday. The rural fire was called in at 5:12 p.m. and required help from several other departments including Fox Lake, Lake Villa, Round Lake and others. Firefighters battled the blaze as heavy snow fell around them.

No one was injured Monday night as a fire roared through an Antioch home's crawl space and onto the first floor, but the family lost three pets in the blaze. One of the two residents in the house on the 26300 block of West Prospect Avenue called 911 at 5:12 p.m. Monday after noticing the basement was on fire, said Antioch Fire Chief John Nixon.
