Loyola of Chicago defeats SIU-Edwardsville 78-50

Gabe Kindred scored 17 points and Loyola of Chicago snapped a two-game losing streak by beating Southern Illinois-Edwardsville 78-50 on Wednesday night.

Terrance Hill added 12 points for the Ramblers (8-2), and Andy Polka pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. Courtney Stanley had six assists.

The Cougars (1-9) were led by Cornelius Chatt's 12 points.

Chatt and Anthony Mitchell hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Cougars ahead 6-4 with 2:08 elapsed. But the Ramblers went on an 8-2 run for a 12-8 lead with 14:06 left in the first half. They never trailed again.

Loyola led 35-30 at the break and put the game out of reach with a 12-0 spurt, keyed by seven consecutive points by Kindred, to start the second half.

Loyola held a 51-29 rebounding margin and outshot the Cougars 45.1 percent (32 of 71) to 33.9 percent (19 of 56).
