Charges dropped in Naperville feces-throwing case

Prosecutors dismissed charges Monday against a Naperville woman accused of throwing dog feces at her neighbor's door.

The misdemeanor case against 43-year-old Susan M. Miller was dropped after the neighbor twice failed to appear in court as a complaining witness, said Renee Ciesla, an assistant prosecutor for the city of Naperville. Without the witness's cooperation, Ciesla said, there was “no basis” to pursue the matter further.

Police said the incident occurred in September. Miller stepped out of her apartment and into a pile of droppings, apparently left by the neighbor's dog.

Miller then threw dog feces at the neighbor's door and uprooted a sign telling residents to pick up dog waste, which she put on the neighbor's patio, according to police.

Naperville police arrested Miller and charged her with disorderly conduct after they were called to the scene by the neighbor.
