Bulls' Rose sorry for TV show snub

Before Thursday's game, Bulls guard Derrick Rose apologized to viewers, producers and crew of the television series “The Good Wife.”

Rose acknowledged he agreed to appear on the show and Tuesday was chosen as the date for him to shoot his scene. But he decided at the last minute not to make the trip to New York.

The network drama starring Julianna Margulies is set in Chicago but filmed in New York.

“The timing was messed up,” Rose said. “They had me catching like an 8 o'clock flight. I had to wake up at 6 to catch an 8 o'clock flight after a game (the previous night). That was kind of messed up. I told them the timing would have to be different.”

A story in the New York Post made it sound as though producers of the show were fuming over Rose's decision not to make the trip. But Rose said he spoke to a producer Thursday afternoon to clear the air.

“He said it was nothing big and hopefully you'll probably see me in another episode,” Rose said. “I'm not the type of guy who would try to ‘big time' anyone or anything. It's not my character as a person, and I'm sorry that I did it.

“I apologize to the fans who watch the show, the producers, all the people that work there. I never meant to do it.”

Rose said he wasn't aware what his role or his lines would be. His appearance was expected to be a short cameo.

“No, I was just going to go there and they were going to walk me through,” he said. “I really don't know.”

Asked if he made the right decision from a basketball perspective, Rose was willing to joke about the ordeal.

“We'll see tonight. If I play good, it was the right decision,” he said with a laugh. “If not, I might as well just went to New York.”
