Something for all residents to enjoy

I am writing in support of D.”Dewey” Perotti, president of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County.

Do you know that more than 25,000 acres of DuPage County at 60 sites are preserved for our enjoyment? Over the last 16 years Dewey Perotti has accomplished this without increasing the tax levy. In fact, he lowered the tax levy 12 out of the past 13 years. The forest district is ranked in the top 2 percent in the nation and has been endorsed by the Sierra Club.

The forest district not only serves to acquire the lands to be set aside, it also provides and oversees hundreds of venues for family-oriented programs and activities that foster our appreciation of the natural resources around us.

DuPage residents may not know that Mr. Perotti oversees such diverse centers as Willowbrook Wildlife Center in Glen Ellyn, Kline Creek Farm in West Chicago, Fullersburg Woods Nature Center in Oak Brook and the Danada Equestrian Center in Wheaton. Boating and cross-country skiing at Herrick's Lake, golfing at Maple Meadows Golf Club in Wood Dale, and sailboating at Blackwell Forest Preserve in Warrenville are all under the auspices of the forest district. Scores of activities such as archery, a lecture series at Mayslake Hall and a book club at Fullersburg Woods are offered by the district each season free-of-charge or for a nominal fee. There is something for every DuPage resident to enjoy, thanks to the vision of Dewey Perotti. On Tuesday, vote to retain D. Dewey Perotti.
