Court security, like Nygren, does fine job

Recently, the Green Party candidate for McHenry County Sheriff was quoted as saying he believes there are too many court security officers and that they are not capable of performing their duties. I visit the courthouse daily and have for many years, and have come to know and respect each of our court security officers. In the courtrooms and the hallways, they are there to protect people and show a presence that keeps people safe and orderly.

Mr. Philpott's comments have no basis in fact, but appear to be inappropriate political rhetoric. I would, and do, trust my safety to these officers who always conduct themselves as professionals. It seems to me that Mr. Philpott expressed his opinion without any personal knowledge of the people whom he disparaged.

The court security officers, like all of the officers who serve our sheriff's department, are fine, qualified individuals. I'll be supporting Keith Nygren who, as Sheriff, put this fine team together.
