Today, all must care about climate

From my early years in middle school, I have been concerned about the environment. My awareness at that time included pollution, global warming, loss of glaciers, extinction of species.

Global warming was a relatively new topic then. Since that time 35 years ago, I have seen extreme marked differences in our planet. Differences I never expected to see in my lifetime. Habitat destruction to extremes, extinction of entire species at alarming rates, rain forest depletion with dire consequences, pollution beyond anything that I could have imagined, loss in droves of the bees, our pollinators that insure our food sources for survival.

Climate issues used to be only for those with an interest. Today, the task can no longer be left to just those dedicated to it's cause, it needs to be a concern for everyone everywhere with heavy penalties in place for offenders and those who are noncompliant.

Technology needs to be revamped and behaviors changed everywhere. We cannot afford to leave our future unprotected and without drastic changes everywhere to continue our survival.

Just last week, Congressman Donald McEachin introduced the 100% Clean Economy Act to set the stage for significant clean energy improvements. This is our chance to start changing our behavior and technology to fight back climate change by transitioning to a 100% clean energy economy by 2050.

As a member of the 6th District, I urge my representative, Sean Casten, to please support this bill, and for my fellow community members to call on your representatives to do the same.

Please, If you have seen the changes I have, please do not sit by any longer. Do something to get involved. There is strength in numbers. Come, be a number and be counted.
