McHenry County Clerk: Schultz

Retired carpenter Mark Freund is seeking to unseat county Clerk Katherine Schultz, who has been with the clerk's office for 51 years. In some cases, experience counts for everything and this is one of those cases.

Republican Schultz is endorsed. Democrat Freund has experience as the financial secretary of a carpenter's union and the VFW, but that doesn't mean he's equipped to take over running county elections, keep vital records and calculate tax bills, among other duties.

Schultz worked in the clerk's office for years before taking over the top job and has the knowledge and dedication to continue to do the job well.
