Since 2003, Democrat Lisa Madigan has been one of the state's most active and productive attorneys general.
Describing the purpose of her job as "to solve problems, she has aggressively pursued child molesters, abusers of the elderly, scam artists and unethical businesses. She created an emphasis in her office for helping the public get better access to government meetings and documents, and she went on to play an important part in passing legislation to strengthen the public's right to such access. She even played a key role in helping keep Navistar in Illinois when it appeared one of our major corporations was about to abandon the state.
She is opposed by Republican Steve Kim, an attorney specializing in international manufacturing, as well as David F. Black of the Green Party and Bill Malan of the Libertarians.
But this is one Illinois office where change would be a mistake.
Madigan is endorsed.
