Secretary of State: White

At age 76, Democratic Secretary of State Jesse White says this is his final campaign. Chicagoan White has overseen the office since 1999. Should he win and serve another four years, he will have been in public service 38 years.

We don't offer endorsements for longevity, but White warmly wins our support for his solid performance.

He has greatly improved speed and service at drivers' facilities. He secured a grant to create a database of court supervisions judges can access. And he's had some success stemming teen fatal crashes.

In another term, he wants to further shrink the numbers of teen crashes and boost library funding.

Republican Robert Enriquez, 53, of Aurora wants to lower incorporation fees charged to businesses and improve mandatory insurance enforcement.

Libertarian Josh Hanson, 26, of Naperville wants to boost customer service, end grant giving and has said driver's licenses are not needed.
