Deng, Korver stand out in Bulls' preseason loss

MILWAUKEE — A few days ago, Bulls forward Luol Deng was raving about the team's new offense. When it came time to put it in motion, he delivered in Tuesday's preseason loss to the Bucks, finishing with 16 points and 4 steals.

“The way we're playing, I really think it fits us, Deng said. “Offensively, I thought we did a good job. We got open looks and missed a lot (of shots). Offensively, I think we're able to move more, get a better rhythm.

The Bulls' other offensive standout was Kyle Korver, who scored a game-high 22 points while knocking down 7 of 12 shots.

“It feels good to hit some shots in the first game, for sure, Korver said. “But we've got a long way to go. I made a lot of mistakes on both ends of the floor. It's the first preseason game. You don't take too much from it.

Gibson injured: Taj Gibson, starting at power forward in place of the injured Carlos Boozer, played just 171/2 minutes Tuesday after suffering a lower back injury.

#8220;It's real sore, he said in the locker room. #8220;I got hit early, tried to play through it, but the pain increased. I'll be OK.

Skiles on Thibs: Bucks coach Scott Skiles had a good line when asked before the game if he had any doubt Tom Thibodeau would do well in his first opportunity as an NBA head coach.

#8220;Right now on Oct. 5, I have a doubt in my mind if I'll do well or not. It's a long season, Skiles quipped. #8220;No, I've known Tom a long time and I'm sure he'll do great. He'll be organized and have a philosophy and he's got a good staff and they have a good team.

Boozer news: The Salt Lake Tribune reported Tuesday that Bulls forward Carlos Boozer has filed for a dissolution of his marriage to wife Cindy. The couple has been married seven years and have three children.

There were reports Boozer first filed for divorce in his off-season home of Miami in March of 2009, followed by news last fall that the couple would try to reconcile.

Boozer had successful surgery to repair a broken bone in his right hand Tuesday morning, the Bulls announced.

Bull horns: Chris Richard, Kyle Weaver and Roger Powell did not see action for the Bulls, while guard John Lucas III played the final 7.3 seconds after C.J. Watson fouled out. #8230; Veteran guard Earl Boykins led Milwaukee with 14 points, scoring 12 in the fourth quarter. #8230; Ex-Bulls guard Jannero Pargo was waived by New Orleans, in part because he's not fully recovered from a knee injury. The Hornets bringing him back in a few weeks was mentioned as a possibility.
