Vote for change in 58th Dist.

Ever since Blagojevich's impeachment last year, I have heard other politicians promising ethics reform in Springfield. Quinn vowed that we would see more transparency in government and genuine improvements to our pension system and our election process. I can't say that I'm surprised none of Illinois' public officials have followed through on these commitments. Incumbent candidates are scrambling to prove to their districts that they've been trying to push for reform, and most have resorted to turning broken promises from the past into campaign promises for the future.

It is refreshing to see a challenger in the 58th District that is ready to take on the special interests and career politicians that have polluted our state. Lauren Turelli supports term limits for all elected officials, open competition for state contracts, and sincere campaign finance reform.

Unlike the incumbent, who voted against her own ethics bill when her party opposed it, Turelli will vote to close the loophole in our campaign finance laws that allows party bosses to supply limitless amounts of money to their candidates' races. She will also support the Fair Map Amendment to end corrupt gerrymandering of districts as well as the Illinois Governor Recall Amendment.

Illinois needs more leaders like her for the next General Assembly in 2011. Her policy proposals are bipartisan solutions, which the entire state can rally behind. Most importantly, Turelli understands that she will be elected to be a public servant for the entire term, not just during the election season.
