Learn about property taxes

Blackberry Township Assessor Uwe Rotter will present the final taxpayer workshop to explain the property tax cycle, how assessments are developed, how to appeal an assessment, and what the Kane County Board of Review and the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board are. 'Memories of Mom' support

Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice offers "Memories of Mom," a support group for women who have experienced the death of their mother at any age for any reason. The group meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 16 to Oct. 21, at FVVH offices, 200 Whitfield Drive in Geneva. The program is free, but registration is required by Thursday. Spanish interpretation is available. In addition to one-on-one support, the agency also offers medical equipment loans, adult and children's grief support groups, community education on end-of-life care and grief, and a community lending library. Discuss library move

The Geneva library board will have a public hearing regarding its purchase of a site for a new library, at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at the library, 127 W. James St. The library is buying the former Cetron factory site and an office building near State and Richards streets.
