Elmhurst police seeking man who exposed himself to kids at wedding

By Lee Filas

Elmhurst police are looking for a man in his late 20s who attempted to sexually assault one child and exposed himself to several children during a wedding reception last week.

Police said the clean-shaven man is about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs between 160 and 180 pounds, has dark, spiked hair and was wearing a pink, traditional "Kurta" shirt during the wedding reception on Sept. 5.

The man approached several children and asked if they wanted some candy at about 3:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Elmhurst Banquet Hall, Elmhurst Police Detective John Tarpey said.

As he talked to the children, the man lowered his pants and exposed himself, Tarpey said. He added that the man also took a girl into another room and attempted to sexually assault her. She screamed, and the man then fled.

Anyone with information should contact Tarpey at (630) 530-3129.
