Dist. 220 approves 3-year contract with support staff

Barrington Unit District 220 board members Tuesday approved a three-year contract with the district's 450 support staff members.

For the current school year, union members will not receive a salary increase, although each person will get a one-time, 2-percent payment ($470 per full-time employee, on average) to help offset employee costs for new health insurance.

The contract provides a savings of 10 to 12 percent in health care expenses for the district.

In 2011-2012, members will receive an increase equal to 50 percent of the Consumer Price Index, with a guaranteed minimum base salary increase of 2 percent.

In 2012-2013, members will again receive an increase equal to 50 percent of the CPI, but with a guaranteed minimum base salary increase of 1.5 percent.
