Flyers get past Fielders

The Schaumburg Flyers beat the Lake County Fielders 3-1 on Saturday night at Fielders Stadium.

The Flyers got on the board in the first inning when Travis Brown doubled and scored on a Garry Bakker wild pitch. They added another run in the fifth when Tom Fitzgerald led off with a single and advanced on a Bakker balk. Bakker struck out the next two batters but walked the next three to score Fitzgerald.

The Fielders scored their run off Alain Quijano in the sixth. Kevin Haas lead off with a double and scored on Guillermo Martinez's single.

The Flyers picked up a run and chased Bakker (5-8) in the seventh after he issued his ninth walk, a season high.

River Bandits 5, Cougars 2: The Quad Cities River Bandits defeated the Kane County Cougars in front of 12,158 at Elfstrom Stadium. Conner Crumbliss led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run, but there were few offensive highlights for the Cougars the rest of the way.

Crumbliss homered off Daniel Bibona (3-0), who went 5 innings. Crumbliss also drew 2 walks to bring his total to 104, tying the Cougars' single-season record set by Tyrone Horne in 1997.

Jose Crisotomo had an RBI single in the seventh inning for the Cougars.
