Chicago Sky scouting report

Washington Mystics (8-4) at Chicago Sky (5-8)

When: 7:30 p.m. today

Where: Allstate Arena

TV: CN100

Last time: On Thursday, Washington defeated the Los Angeles Sparks in D.C., 68-53; on Tuesday, the Sky defeated the Sun in Connecticut 86-77.

The skinny: The Sky stopped the bleeding Tuesday in Connecticut. A win over the Sun ended a four-game skid that dated to June 8. Hot shooting, specifically from behind the 3-point arc, did the trick. Reserve guard Erin Thorn scored a season-high 18 points and hit all 3 of her 3-point attempts to pave the way for the Sky while rookie guard Epiphanny Prince came off the bench to score a game-high 19 points. She also hit a 3-pointer. Overall, the Sky connected on 6 of 8 3-pointers for a 75 percent clip while Connecticut made just 6 of 24 shots from beyond the arc. The Sky's long-range proficiency came in handy as Sky center Sylvia Fowles sat much of the fourth quarter in foul trouble. She still finished in double figures (12 points) and was one of five Sky players to do so. The Sky definitely has a score to settle with Washington. Two weeks ago, the Mystics embarrassed the Sky on its own floor by hitting a whopping 62 percent of their field goals and running away with a victory. On Saturday, the Sky visited Washington and led most of the game only to let victory slip away in overtime. The Mystics, who got a big game from former Ohio State star Katie Smith in Saturday's win over the Sky, boast three double-figure scorers in Monique Currie (16.8 ppg), Crystal Langhorne (14.2 ppg) and Lindsey Harding (12.5 ppg).
