Flyers drop series finale with T-Bones

KANSAS CITY, KS -- The Flyers (8-21) trailed from the get-go, and, eventually, fell to the T-Bones (18-11), 7-1, at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Fathers Day.

Alain Quijano (1-4) registered his most disappointing start of the season, recording just one out before Mike Busch brought in Ben Reeser in relief. Conversely, T-Bones starter Cody McAllister (3-2) tossed a brilliant eight innings, scattering seven hits and giving up just one run.

Kansas City center fielder Keanon Simon led off the bottom of the first with a single, followed by a Jake Blackwood double into left field to plate Simon. After Rico Washington drew a walk, Ray Sadler came up and brought Blackwood around on a double. Jim Fasano then lifted a fly ball to left field, which scored Washington and increased the T-Bones lead to 3-0.

Reeser entered two batters later and got the final two outs to end the threat. The rookie allowed just two more runs in his appearance on a pitch that Sadler sent into the left field bleachers for a two-run home run. Reeser put in a quality effort, going 4.2 innings with three strikeouts.

Reid Price came in to pitch the eighth, giving up two runs on a Washington sacrifice fly and Sadler single, which gave him four RBI on the night.

The Flyers managed their one run in the seventh when Andre Marshall laced a line drive into left center and beat out Simons throw for a double. After Joe Nowicki struck out, Terry Mermer launched a double off the center field wall for his first RBI with the Flyers.

Alain Quijano was tagged with the loss and Cody McAllister recorded the win.

Schaumburg comes home to face rival Joliet Monday night for the start of a three game set at Alexian Field.
