Chicago man killed in motorcycle accident on I-55
A Chicago man was killed in a motorcycle accident early Monday, officials from the Cook County medical examiner's office said Monday.
Armando Aguirre, 37, of the 5700 block of S. Talman Avenue, was pronounced dead at 4:20 a.m., following a crash near the Pulaski exit on the I-55 expressway, medical examiner officials said.
Master Sgt. S. Nowak of the Illinois State Police said the incident occurred at 1 a.m. as the driver improperly changed lanes and lost control when he attempted to exit at Pulaski.
Nowak said the rear tire of the vehicle struck a raised curve and the driver was thrown from the motorcycle. Despite wearing a helmet, Nowak said, Aguirre died due to his injuries.
Nowak said Aguirre was riding with two other motorcycles at a high rate of speed.
An autopsy is planned for later this morning, medical examiner officials added.
