Carpentersville assistant named acting manager

The Carpentersville board has promoted from within to temporarily fill the village manager position, which Craig Anderson will vacate next month.

Trustees this week appointed Assistant Village Manager Dawn Wucki-Rossbach as interim village manager, effective June 2. Wucki-Rossbach has served as assistant village manager for almost a decade.

"Dawn has been with the village for a long time, she knows the ins and outs, she knows the personnel," Village President Ed Ritter said. "She is the appropriate person to turn the reins overs to, at least on a temporary basis. We need an acting village manager and she is the logical person to have in that role."

Wucki-Rossbach will serve as acting village manager until a new manager is hired, at which time she will return to her position as assistant manager. Wucki-Rossbach will earn an annual salary of $126,684.

Anderson said Wucki-Rossbach currently has a full plate of responsibilities and frequently fills the role in his absence.

"When I am gone, I always name her as acting village manager," said Anderson, who will retire effective June 1. "She will be fine. There is no cause for concern there."

As assistant village manager, Wucki-Rossbach assists in the general management of village operations and has specific responsibility for risk management, administration of the cable television franchise agreement, oversight of the solid waste collection/recycling contract, and negotiation of collective bargaining agreements on behalf of the village. Additionally, the assistant village manager serves as the village's representative on the Fox Valley Regional Cable Commission.

Wucki-Rossbach, who started with the village in 1999, held longer stints as village manager before Anderson's arrival. She was acting village manager for 11 weeks during one stretch and then for another 21 days.

"I welcome the opportunity to best serve the village and the residents," said Wucki-Rossbach, who declined to comment on whether she is applying for the manager's position.

Meanwhile, the search for his replacement has attracted about 40 applicants from across the country, Anderson said. Friday was the deadline to apply, and the village expects the vetting and selection process to take about 60 days.
