Thunderstorms slow morning commute

Strong thunderstorms slowed this morning's commute.

Storms that moved into the area early this morning are expected to last off and on much of the day and possibly into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Some localized flooding and wind gusts more than 40 mph are also expected in the suburbs today.

Mother Nature is expected to bring scattered thunderstorms and hail this afternoon ahead of a cold front.

Cool temperatures are expected into the weekend with possible frost likely Saturday night. It's expected to be mostly cloudy Saturday with highs in the lower 50s.

The storms are expected to clear for Mother's Day on Sunday when it will be mostly sunny with highs in the lower 60s, according to the National Weather Service.
