Ex-Sox CF Anderson to try hand at pitching

It's one thing with Sergio Santos.

He was 25 years old and already was capable of throwing 95-mph fastballs without breaking a sweat when he decided to stop being an ineffective infielder and start becoming a pitcher at the start of the 2009 season. Santos picked up his new craft quickly and made the White Sox' 25-man roster as a relief pitcher this spring.

That leads us to Brian Anderson, who played center field for the Sox from 2005-09 before being traded to Boston last July for Mark Kotsay.

Anderson signed a one-year, $700,000 contract with the Kansas City Royals over the winter. He was pretty solid in spring training, batting .341 with 1 HR and 11 RBI, but there was apparently no spot on K.C.'s roster for a reserve outfielder.

So now, Anderson is going to pull a Santos and give pitching a try.
