$1 million bond set for man with 1,600 knives
A Cook County judge has set bond at $1 million for a man arrested after he allegedly tried to bring four knives into a downtown Chicago court building.
The amount is on top of the $350,000 bond set for Kevin Long after last week's arrest.
Circuit Judge Donald Panarese's ruling Tuesday comes after Long was charged with an additional 47 counts of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon following a weekend search of his Chicago home revealed 1,600 knives and other weapons.
Long has been identified by county and federal authorities as a possible threat to judges and court personnel after a number of incidents in court buildings. Among the incidents is one in which he was arrested for trespassing after he was found in a judge's chambers.
