First Friday in LibertyvilleMainStreet Libertyville's "First Friday" event is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 5. Performers, such as a guitarist and jazz band, an artist, wine tasting and other free events are planned for the downtown area and stores. This Friday also marks the last night you can vote for your favorite "Frosty" being displayed outside the stores in the Snowmen on Parade event. Ballot boxes are in all participating stores. First Friday is one of 15 community events organized and produced each year by MainStreet Libertyville, a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization located in downtown Libertyville. For more information, call (847) 680-0336.Antioch parks director namedMike Kudla is the new director of the Antioch Park and Recreation Department. Kudla, 56, of Mundelein, was appointed at the village board meeting Monday. Former director of the Glencoe Park District, Kudla replaces Laurie Stahl, who resigned in November. "My first priority will be to listen to residents and staff and find out what their needs are," Kudla said Monday. "It's a small department with budget constraints, but I want to grow the department as the budget allows." His yearly salary is $64,000.Variety show setMundelein High School's annual student variety show will be held on Friday, March 12. Tickets for the 7 p.m. show are $5 each. The event will raise money for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Singers, dancers, student bands and other performers will take the stage. Cash prizes will go to the winners.
