Levitt wins 4th subcircuit judge's race

Mark Levitt of Deerfield won a four-way race in the Democratic primary in the 4th Judicial Subcircuit.

With all 102 Lake County precincts reporting, unofficial totals showed Levitt won with 3,788 votes or 36 percent. Levitt, an assistant Cook County public defender, will go on to face Associate Judge Wallace Dunn in the November general election. Dunn was unopposed in the Republican primary.

Of the other candidates in the race, Jeremy Schwartz of Highland Park collected 3,185 votes or 30 percent, Christopher Kennedy of Libertyville had 2,382 votes or 23 percent and Dwayne Douglas of Highland Park had 1,179 votes or 11 percent.

In his campaign, Levitt stressed his desire to protect the rights of all litigants from the bench.
