Wojnicki survives challenge in Kane Dist. 15

Incumbent Barbara Wojnicki scored the GOP nod for the board seat in Kane County's 15th District.

According to unofficial tallies, Wojnicki, of St. Charles, handily won the right to represent her party in the general election, with 1,350 votes.

Challengers Susan Secondi had 541 votes, with Albert Lenkaitis rounding out the count with 496 votes.

Wojnicki will now square off in the general election against Kay Catlin, who ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination.

"I think it was all my friends and people I've worked with in the past on our open space and other issues," Wojnicki said. "It's the community working together and it's my constituents believing in me."
