McHenry County Board Dist. 6, Republican: McCann, Ryan

Five Republican candidates crowd the primary ballot for McHenry County Board District 6, where two seats are open.

Two candidates, Daniel Ryan and Mary T. McCann are incumbents, while two others have past government experience. Richard Draper was the treasurer of Wonder Lake for 12 years and Victor Narusis served as a trustee in Gurnee. Both have extensive volunteer experience and a background in business.

McCann is endorsed for one of the seats open. She is the strongest candidate with her record on the board during the past three years and her background of extensive work on community committees.

Ryan resides in Sun City, which provides representation to a substantial block of citizens in the southern end of the county. He brings a wealth of business experience and an understanding of how government works after serving on the Inverness and Huntley village boards, as well as a term on the McHenry County Board, He stresses conservation and job creation.

Ryan also is endorsed.

Narusis' background in banking and finance coupled with energy and enthusiasm, also would make him a good candidate.

Draper also brings valuable experience. Diane Evertsen, a Realtor from Harvard, is running on a platform of reducing the size of government and spending, particularly in the area of social services.

District 6 includes parts of Grafton Township and all of Coral, Seneca, Greenwood, Hebron, Alden, Hartland, Riley, Marengo, Dunham and Chemung townships.
