McHenry County Board Dist. 5, Republican: Jung, Hill

Three candidates are vying for the Republican nomination to seek two seats representing District 5 on the McHenry County Board.

The race includes incumbent Tina Hill, former board member John P. Jung Jr. and newcomer David Frederick.

Frederick, a Woodstock veterinarian, wants to cut taxes and cut the size of government. Unfortunately, he lacks ideas on how to fund current services - or even pay for the speed limit signs he's adamant county roads need - during a time when county revenues are already shriveling with tax cuts.

Jung and Hill are endorsed.

Jung, former vice chairman of the county board and 2030 plan liaison, proved himself a strong advocate for his constituents while serving on the board from 1994 to 2008.

Hill, a seven-year veteran on the board, has a quiet competency and confidence that ensures she delivers what her constituents - and the county - needs.

District 5 includes parts of Grafton and Dorr townships.
