For Kane County Board District 7, Democratic: Jones

Gerald Jones is our choice in the Democratic primary for Kane County Board District 7. He is being challenged by Lorena Cundari.

Jones is an 18-year veteran of the board and, despite being a Democrat, seems to be well inside the board chairman's circle of friends. He brings a lot of institutional knowledge to the job and an ability to get things accomplished.

Jones' top two priorities are ensuring quality health care for the citizens and a balanced budget. As chairman of the Public Health Committee, he has paid particular attention to the problems facing at-risk mothers.

As for the trouble the county had in trying to balance its budget in 2009, Jones was proud of the end result.

"It doesn't always look good," he said. "Instead of looking at the process, look at the results. We have been very responsible managers of the taxpayers' dollars."

Cundari wants the county to be more transparent and better with its money. We encourage her to continue being an advocate and stay involved.
