Costumed canines march through downtown Long Grove
Kids dressed in scary, sporty or just plan silly outfits will take to the sidewalks later this month for Halloween trick-or-treating, but on Sunday, it was their pets’ turn.
Dozens of canines marched costume in the Historic Downtown Long Grove Annual Pet Costume Parade.
Among them was Phoebe, 3, a mini Goldendoodle from Mount Prospect who came dressed as the late Dolly Parton.
“It’s so sad that she passed away, so we’re kind of doing this in memory of her,” said owner Emilia Goliszewski. “I feel like Dolly would be happy to see that Phoebe is dressed as her.”

John Kopecky, owner of Country House of Long Grove, said the event has been a tradition for about a decade.
“Pets are part of the family,” he said.
