St. Charles seeks replacement for Ward 3 alderman

St. Charles is looking for a new Ward 3 alderman after Robert Gehm resigned his post Friday.

Gehm had served three years on the council. Before that, he was a liquor commissioner.

“Bob has a genuine commitment to give back to his community,” Mayor Clint Hull said. “That commitment led him to step forward to serve the city for the last 13 years. His leadership, kindness and dedication have made St. Charles even better.”

Hull will appoint a replacement, with the advice and consent of the city council. That person will serve until April 2027.

Applicants must have lived in Ward 3 for at least one year. They have to be registered to vote. Ward 3 is largely west of the Fox River and north of Main Street.

Resumes are due by 4 p.m. May 25 and can be mailed to City Hall, 2 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL 60174. They may also be emailed to msheets@stcharlesil.gov.

Hull expects to have the new person in place June 15.
